I used to get my news like all you schmucks, from sources like CNN, FOX, MSNBC, NPR, whatever, at one point or another, I tried them all. That was until my friend sent me a post by BBC News Pidgin.

Immediately I knew, this was the correct way to take in the news.

No misleading click-bait headlines, no GOTCHA journalism. Just headlines, spelled in a real fun way, known as Pidgin.

Like with every topic that I fall in love with, I had to do a deep dive to learn it’s history. So let’s get through the basics.

Pidgin isn’t just one language. It was originally developed as a way for people of two different languages to communicate. Pidgin became a linguistic bridge for European and Western African people. Without this, Europeans would have had a really difficult time asking stuff like, “Where do you keep all the strong ones?” And the people from Western Africa wouldn’t have been able to ask when they’d be coming back.

What I like about BBC Pidgin the most, is it cuts through all the bullshit, and just gives the facts, in a way that is incredibly fun to read out loud.
