In honor of AJ Brown brown reading Jim Murphy’s Inner Excellence on the sideline during a game and making his book sell like hotcakes, I thought I would share all the times celebrities have been seen reading my book in public.
Now this isn’t me bragging, although it really does seem like it, I can assure you, this is me being humble.

A lot of people forget Usher did the original reading for my audiobook (never released). Here is Usher on stage reading a passage, talking about how 86’d changed his life and allowed him to realize his full sexual potential. He went on to mention he didn’t realize a character could have so many layers, yet be so relatable.
Did I make a big deal of it? No, I’m an adult who doesn’t care about celebrities endorsing my books. I care about you, the regular, average person with no real skills or talents. You are my people.

Carrie Fisher from Sex in the City used 86’ed as a prop during the filming of one of her movies, in which she plays a lady. I didn’t see the movie, so I can’t confirm that this scene made the cut, but she did DM me a few stills. I’d share the dms but I don’t want her husband Matt showing up at my house dressed in his costume from Glory challenging me to a duel again.

Samuel L. Jackson used to read passages of his favorite books online during COVID. It was no surprise to anyone that he began with my catalog of novels. He was actually my first choice to narrate my audiobook, but he couldn’t stop laughing at all of the jokes and zany situations, so we had to go with our second choice, Usher (as seen above).

George Bush once accidentally confused my book with whatever book he was supposed to read in class to these kids. After a few minutes of reading his favorite sex passage (the shower one), one of his advisors whispered to him the error of his ways.
I could have gone on and on with more pictures of celebrities reading my books, but I truly don’t want it to seem like I’m bragging.
